Description
This vintage Philco Predicta television is the 17-inch Princess model, a significant example of Space Age mid-century modern design from the late 1950s. The unit features a separate, swivel-mounted picture tube encased in a cream-colored plastic housing with a brass-finished metal trim ring and a clear plastic screen cover. The tube assembly is mounted atop a rectangular black-painted metal base with a woven fiber grille front. The front of the base is equipped with a channel selector dial on the right and a volume and power control knob on the left. The back of the tube housing is embossed with the Philco name and Predicta in stylized script. The stamped metal rear panel contains a range switch and adjustment ports for width, height, and vertical linearity. Electrical specifications are listed as 117 Volts A.C., 60 Cycles, 190 Watts, and the unit bears a UL seal.

Condition report:
The television is in fair to poor as-found condition and is sold untested for parts or restoration. The black metal base exhibits surface scratches, scuffs, and areas of oxidation. The woven fabric grille cloth is heavily frayed and torn in multiple places across the front. The cream plastic tube housing has yellowed over time and shows surface grime. The brass-colored trim ring is heavily pitted with significant finish loss and corrosion. The clear plastic screen cover is heavily scratched, scuffed, and clouded throughout. The power cord is present but shows signs of age.
