Description
An American mechanical mantel clock produced by the Seth Thomas Clock Company. The case is finished in Adamantine celluloid veneer, a material developed and patented by Seth Thomas in 1880 to simulate natural woods and stones, featuring a mottled wood-grain pattern. The architectural-style case includes a stepped base and top with two cast metal fluted columns flanking the dial. The front panel is decorated with a dark stenciled scroll and ribbon motif. The clock is supported by four ornate cast metal feet featuring a claw and scroll design. The circular dial is made of ornate cast metal with a golden-tone finish, displaying raised Arabic numerals within circular medallions. The center of the dial features a raised floral rosette pattern. It includes two winding arbors and a regulation arbor located below the 12 o clock position. The clock has black metal spade hands protected by a hinged glass door within a metal bezel. The interior contains a mechanical, spring-driven 8-day movement with timekeeping and striking functions. The movement plate is stamped with the ST diamond trademark. The clock strikes the hours and half-hours on a coiled wire gong. The reverse side features a fragmented paper label identifying the model as No. 102 and referencing the Adamantine patent date of September 7, 1880. The underside of the base is stamped with red characters H 1869, and the back panel has the hand-painted name DELAND.

Condition report:
The clock is in good antique condition with surface wear, minor scuffs, and abrasions to the Adamantine finish consistent with age. Metal components exhibit a darkened patina. The paper label on the reverse is heavily worn, torn, and fragmented. The movement appears complete; however, it has not been tested for mechanical functionality or timekeeping accuracy. Winding key is not present.
