Description
This is a complete, unused coupon book issued by the New York Jockey Club for the 1892 racing season at Morris Park Racecourse. The booklet contains thirteen individual coupons bound within a heavy cream cardstock cover. The graphics feature intricate Victorian-style engraved scrollwork and borders printed in maroon and sage green inks. The front cover is printed with the text Grand Stand, 1892, New York Jockey Club, Coupon Book, and Not Transferable. Each individual coupon specifies the day of the meet, ranging from 1st Day through 13th Day, and includes text stating This coupon to be exchanged for a Grand Stand day badge at race course. Every coupon is marked with the initials G.S. and a red-inked serial number 383. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
The item is in excellent vintage condition. All thirteen coupons are intact and remain attached to the binding. The paper displays light toning and minor foxing as expected for a paper item from the late nineteenth century. The binding is secure and the edges show only minimal handling wear.
