Description
An extensive assortment of vintage and antique sewing buttons featuring numerous original retail cards, loose specimens, and related notions. Manufacturers represented on original cards include La Mode, Le Chic, Streamline, Desirables, Jewel-Tone, and Slimline. The collection encompasses a wide variety of materials such as mother-of-pearl shell, glass, wood, various metals, and early plastics. Designs range from nautical anchor motifs and floral shapes to colorful swirls and basic functional styles. Two black trays contain a significant quantity of mixed loose buttons in various stages of sorting. Additional items in the lot include a wicker basket containing mixed notions, a red heart-shaped pincushion with buttons attached to the surface, and two glass jars filled with buttons, one of which is a repurposed Heinz jar with a lid dated July 2002. Also included is a tarnished silver-tone souvenir spoon. The handle of the spoon is embossed with a crest and the text HOTEL NORGE BERGEN around an HN monogram. The reverse of the spoon is marked 90 followed by a chalice symbol and the letters NM. A rectangular aged metal buckle is also present. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
Condition varies throughout the collection. Several button cards show age-related toning, minor creasing, and surface wear. Loose buttons exhibit varying degrees of wear from use. The silver-tone spoon shows significant tarnish. The metal buckle has an aged patina. Items are generally sold as-is within this large mixed lot.
