Description
This pair of vintage candy containers was manufactured by the J.H. Millstein Co. of Jeannette, Pennsylvania. Each figure features a molded clear glass body in the shape of Santa Claus, topped with a removable head stopper constructed of painted plastic or composition material. One container retains its original red paper label on the underside, which identifies the manufacturer and lists ingredients including sugar, corn syrup, and peanuts. This specific container remains filled with its original red-colored candy contents. The second container is missing its base label and candies but contains a brown paper internal sleeve. Both items feature decorative cold-painted details on the glass representing Santa’s boots, belt, and suit accents.
Height: 5 inches. Pickup is Friday, July 31, from Noon to 7 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item. Condition report:
The glass bodies exhibit significant loss to the original cold-painted details, most notably on the black boots, belts, and red suit highlights. The head stoppers show minor surface grime and light paint wear consistent with age and use. One container is missing its original paper base label. The vintage candy contents are included for historical interest and display purposes only and are not for consumption. No chips or cracks are visible on the glass bodies.
