Description
This is a United States Army M-1947 Overcoat, Parka Type, a transitional cold-weather garment utilized during the early Cold War and Korean War periods. The shell is constructed from heavy olive drab cotton sateen and features a full-length button-front closure with a storm flap. The garment is designed with two large lower patch pockets featuring snap-fastener flaps and two diagonal chest slash pockets intended for hand-warming. The back of the coat features an internal drawstring waist, creating a gathered appearance at the midsection. The parka includes its original, removable heavy-duty liner. The liner body is composed of a brown synthetic/wool pile, while the upper sections are made of olive-green wool. The integrated hood is lined with white cotton twill and retains the white buttons used to secure a detachable fur ruff. A small white fabric tag is present in the interior neck area.
