Description
A group of four United States Army service clothing items dating to the World War II era, circa 1943-1945. The collection includes one M1943 field jacket, one insulating liner, and three long-sleeve service shirts.
The M1943 field jacket is constructed from Olive Drab (OD) #7 cotton sateen. It features four large front cargo pockets with flap closures, a button-down front with a protective storm flap, and a notched lapel collar. An internal drawstring is present at the waist for adjustment. Included with the jacket is a removable, button-in insulating liner featuring a pile-lined interior and knit cuffs and collar.
The collection contains two olive drab wool-flannel service shirts. Both garments are designed with shoulder epaulettes, two pleated breast pockets with scalloped flaps, and button cuffs. One wool shirt contains a black ink stamp on the interior neck reading 7952. One wool shirt features a size tag in the collar marked 17-35.
The final item is a tan cotton-twill service shirt featuring two plain breast pockets with rectangular flaps. A white fabric size tag in the collar is printed with the numbers 15 and 35, indicating a 15-inch neck and 35-inch sleeve length. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
