Description
This French Modele 1951 (M51) steel combat helmet, often referred to as the OTAN pattern, features a symmetrical rounded profile with a flared rim. The shell is constructed from pressed steel and retains its original textured olive drab green paint. The interior contains a three-pad brown leather liner system, with each perforated tongue joined at the crown by a drawstring cord. One leather pad is positioned to reveal a canvas-covered interior cushion. The helmet is equipped with an adjustable leather chin strap and a metal sliding buckle. On the interior underside of the brim, there is a clear blue ink stamp featuring the characters L T stacked above the number 72, positioned next to a three-towered castle emblem. This marking identifies the manufacturer as the French defense contractor Luchaire S.A. d’Etablissements and indicates a production or refurbishment date of 1972. This design served as the basis for several international variants, including the Iraqi M80 helmet. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos.
