Description
A collection of five original United States Army Field Manuals (FM) published by the War Department and printed by the United States Government Printing Office during the World War II era. The lot includes two copies of FM 21-11 Basic Field Manual: First Aid for Soldiers, both dated April 7, 1943, containing instructions and illustrations for wound treatment, casualty transport, and first aid kit contents. Also included is FM 21-15 Basic Field Manual: Equipment, Clothing, and Tent Pitching dated 1940, and a later edition titled FM 21-15 War Department Field Manual: Individual Clothing and Equipment dated April 1945. The collection is completed by FM 7-40 Infantry Field Manual: Rifle Regiment dated February 9, 1942, which includes a printed Changes No. 1 insert dated July 11, 1942. The manuals feature softcover paper or cardstock bindings with staple and adhesive construction. The FM 7-40 manual displays a prominent rubber stamp on the front cover reading: SECOND ARMY OHIO MILITARY DISTRICT AND OFFICE OF THE UNIT INSTRUCTOR, ORC 1941 MAHONING RD NE CANTON, OHIO. Internal pages feature black and white photographic illustrations and technical diagrams related to military life, tactical movement, and field equipment. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
