Description
A group of three original United States Army technical and training manuals published during the early years of World War II. The lot consists of:
1. FM 23-10 Basic Field Manual: U.S. Rifle, Caliber .30, M1903. Published by the United States Government Printing Office, Washington, 1940. This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the operation, maintenance, and marksmanship of the Springfield M1903 bolt-action rifle, including diagrams of miniature target ranges.
2. FM 23-7 Basic Field Manual: U.S. Carbine, Caliber .30, M1. Dated May 20, 1942. Published shortly after the United States entered the war, this manual covers the then-new semi-automatic M1 Carbine, with detailed illustrations of firing positions and marksmanship fundamentals.
3. Quartermaster Weapons Training Programs. Prepared by the Weapons Training Branch, Military Training Division at The Quartermaster School, Camp Lee, Virginia. This specialized manual is marked “RESTRICTED” and contains training sections for multiple weapon systems including the M1A1 Rocket Launcher (Bazooka), rifle-mounted anti-tank grenades, and the M1 Thompson submachine gun. The front cover bears the handwritten ownership signature of Technical Sergeant Laurence C. Buttin.
All three manuals are staple-bound with soft paper covers and contain numerous black and white technical illustrations and diagrams. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Please carefully look at all photos (up to 100 in some cases on our in-house platform) to judge for yourself what you are buying. All sales are final. Our in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
