A United States Army War Department Basic Field Manual, FM 23-35, pertaining to the Automatic Pistol Caliber .45, models M1911 and M1911A1. This World War II era publication serves as a training guide for the operation, disassembly, and marksmanship of the standard military sidearm. The manual includes illustrated sections on sighting bars, aiming discs, proper grip techniques, and various firing positions. A printer code located on page 37, 223906-40-6, suggests a printing date of 1940. The interior front cover contains a handwritten ink inscription identifying the soldier as Pvt. J. Babus, service number 36863549, of the 824th Battery D. The manual features a staple binding and soft paper covers.
