Description
This is an original WWII-era US Army Basic Field Manual, designated FM 23-36, titled Revolver, Colt, Caliber .45, M1917, and Revolver, Smith and Wesson, Caliber .45, M1917. The manual was published by the United States Government Printing Office in Washington and is dated October 20, 1941. It was prepared under the direction of the Chief of Cavalry. The publication is constructed with a light brown cardstock cover and saddle-stitched (stapled) binding. The text provides comprehensive instruction on mechanical training, disassembly, assembly, care, cleaning, functioning, and individual safety precautions for both the Colt and Smith and Wesson M1917 revolvers. The manual includes numerous photographic plates and diagrams illustrating proper handling, firing positions such as Position of Raise Pistol, and sighting techniques. The interior front cover contains a handwritten ink inscription identifying a previous owner as Pvt. L. Baker, with the service number 3666 3549 and unit designation 824th D. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale.
