Description
This collection consists of three vintage hardcover books and a World War II-era ephemeron. The first volume is Heroes of the Army in America by Charles Morris, published by J. B. Lippincott Company in Philadelphia and London as a second edition, revised and enlarged. This is an ex-library copy, featuring a library call number 920 M83H.R on the spine and a stamped accession number 180113 on the title page. The second book is A Primary History of the United States by John Bach McMaster, published by the American Book Company. It is bound in olive-drab cloth with black-stamped cover illustrations of a Native American profile and a plow; the interior contains numerous historical illustrations. The third volume is the Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin, part of the Macmillan’s Pocket Classics series, bound in dark brown cloth with gilt lettering. The front endpaper bears a handwritten ownership signature for Warren Stout, Private. Included with the books is a United States Office of Price Administration War Ration Book Four, Serial Number 295866 BQ. The book was issued to Earl Eugene Darst of New Lexington, Ohio, and contains partially filled sheets of spare, green, and blue ration stamps.
