A collection of non-fiction historical works focusing primarily on North American military and regional history. Hardcover highlights include Alan Taylor, The Divided Ground: Indians, Settlers, and the Northern Borderland of the American Revolution (Knopf, 2006) and The Civil War of 1812 (Knopf, 2010); Jack Kelly, Valcour: The 1776 Campaign That Saved the Cause of Liberty (St. Martin’s Press, 2021); Neil Kagan and Stephen G. Hyslop, Eyewitness to the Civil War (National Geographic, 2006); Ivan Musicant, The Banana Wars (Macmillan, 1990); and Terry Mort, Cheyenne Summer: The Battle of Beecher Island: A History (2015). Large format volumes include The Faith of America illustrated by Norman Rockwell with text by Fred Bauer (1980) and Gettysburg: Tell my father I died with my face to the enemy from the Time-Life Voices of the Civil War series (1995). Regional and auxiliary history volumes include Richard B. Drake, A History of Appalachia (University Press of Kentucky, 2001); Carmel McCaffrey and Leo Eaton, In Search of Ancient Ireland (2002); and James L. Haley, The Shores of Tripoli (2016). The lot also includes trade paperback editions such as Seymour I. Schwartz, The French and Indian War 1754–1763 (1994); Mark Nesbitt, Ghosts of Gettysburg (1991); and James Adams, Secret Armies (1988). Volumes are primarily octavo and quarto in size, bound in publisher cloth or paper-covered boards, most retaining original dust jackets. The collection is illustrated throughout with photographs, maps, contemporary engravings, and color plates. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Please carefully look at all photos (up to 100 in some cases on our in-house platform) to judge for yourself what you are buying. All sales are final. Our in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
