A collection of volumes focused on American military history, the Civil War, and the development of the American West. Featured titles include S.C. Gwynne, Empire of the Summer Moon (Scribner); Leon C. Metz, Pat Garrett: The Story of a Western Lawman (University of Oklahoma Press); Charles M. Robinson III, The Men Who Wear the Star: The Story of the Texas Rangers (Random House); and Thom Hatch, The Last Outlaws: The Lives and Legends of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (New American Library). Military and reference works comprise Jerome A. Greene, Indian War Veterans: Memories of Army Life and Campaigns in the West, 1864-1898; Time-Life Books, Echoes of Glory: Arms and Equipment of the Union; Earl J. Coates and James L. Kochan, Don Troiani’s Soldiers in America 1754-1865 (Stackpole Books); George Markham, Guns of the Wild West: Firearms of the American Frontier 1849-1917; and the Civil War Collector’s Price Guide (8th edition, North South Trader). Notably included is a Lakeside Press edition of A Texas Ranger by N.A. Jennings, bound in dark brown cloth with a gilt-stamped circular seal for R.R. Donnelley and Sons Company on the front board and gilt lettering to the spine. The lot also contains a softcover pamphlet by Don Jakeway titled Paratroopers Do or Die!!, which bears a manuscript inscription in black ink on the front cover. Bindings include publisher’s cloth with dust jackets, pictorial boards, and softcover wrappers. Sizes range from octavo to quarto. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Please carefully look at all photos (up to 100 in some cases on our in-house platform) to judge for yourself what you are buying. All sales are final. Our in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
