Description
A vintage red wool varsity-style jacket manufactured by Holloway, as indicated by the interior maker’s label. The garment features a black quilted lining, snap-front buttons, and gold and red striped ribbed knit collar, cuffs, and waistband. The jacket serves as a collection piece for various United States Marine Corps (USMC) insignia. The patches are currently secured to the wool with plastic-headed pins rather than being sewn. Significant patches include a large circular Marine Corps League emblem on the back and a variety of unit-specific patches on the chest and sleeves. These units include the 1st Battalion 27th Marines (Vietnam 1968), 5th Reconnaissance Battalion, 3rd Battalion 2nd Marines (Betio Bastards), and 3rd Battalion 25th Marines. Service-related patches include a Combined Action Program (CAP) Luc Luong Hop shield, a USMC Combat Veteran rectangular patch with Vietnam Service Medal colors, and patches for MCRD San Diego and the School of Infantry at Camp Pendleton. The interior tag is marked hull’s custom jackets by HOLLOWAY, One shell of a jacket, size L, and MADE IN U.S.A. with registration numbers ASI 6143 and WPL 11783.
