July Military Auction
Lot 25387:
Description
A United States Army Model 1912 pattern khaki service coat, typical of the uniform worn during the World War I era. The garment is constructed from tan cotton twill and features a four-pocket front design, including two pleated breast pockets and two lower bellows pockets, all of which are secured with scalloped flaps. The coat is designed with a stand-and-fall collar and characteristic V-shaped chevron stitching at the cuffs. The shoulder loops are made of yellow cloth, which indicates the Cavalry branch of service. The coat is fitted with gilt brass buttons featuring the Great Seal of the United States. These buttons are detachable and are secured to the fabric with metal split rings to allow for laundering. The reverse of the buttons is stamped with the maker mark SCOVILL MFG CO WATERBURY.
