July Military Auction
Lot 25385:
Description
This pair of mid-20th century men’s ankle boots features a traditional cap-toe service or trench boot silhouette. The uppers are constructed from black leather and are attached to leather outsoles using a stitched welt construction. The lacing system includes six pairs of metal eyelets and three pairs of metal speed hooks, currently fitted with flat black laces. The interior of the boots is lined with a light-colored canvas, and the tongues are padded with a natural-colored felt or wool material. Perforated leather heel pads are visible on the insoles. The heels feature composite lifts embossed with the script mark O’Sullivan and the word NYLON in block letters, identifying them as components from the O’Sullivan Rubber Company of Winchester, Virginia. This style of boot is consistent with American work and military-inspired footwear from the 1940s and 1950s. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos.
