Description
This is an official United States Navy Service Dress Blue (SDB) uniform jacket, dating from the approximately 1973–1980 “Zumwalt” era when suit-style uniforms were issued to all enlisted ranks. The garment is a double-breasted reefer-style coat constructed from heavy dark navy blue wool. It features eight gold-tone metal buttons embossed with the USN eagle and anchor motif. The right sleeve bears a Petty Officer First Class (PO1) rating badge for a Boatswain’s Mate (BM), featuring a silver bullion eagle (crow) and crossed anchors above three red embroidered chevrons. An embroidered figure-eight knot is also present on the lower portion of the right sleeve. The left sleeve features four red diagonal service stripes, with each stripe representing four years of service, totaling at least 16 years. The interior is lined with a black satin-finish fabric and contains an official regulation label with a silver eagle and shield logo.
