Description

This is a United States Marine Corps Model 1917 standing collar service coat and matching trousers in forest green wool. The service coat features a four-pocket front with pleated chest pockets and bellows-style hip pockets. All buttons are bronze-tone metal embossed with the USMC eagle and anchor emblem. The left shoulder displays a hand-stitched 2nd Marine Division insignia, consisting of a white embroidered star on a red felt square with a brown bear head at the center. Both sleeves are adorned with single red-on-green Private First Class rank chevrons. The lower sleeves feature gold-colored bullion V-shaped stripes, with two stripes on one sleeve and one on the other, signifying 18 months of overseas service. The interior is partially lined with olive-drab cotton twill fabric. The matching wool trousers feature a button fly with metal buttons embossed with the text U.S. MARINE CORPS. The trousers also include belt loops and suspender buttons. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos.
