Description
This is a United States Army 3rd Pattern Tropical Combat Uniform jacket, commonly referred to as jungle fatigues, dating to the Vietnam War era. The garment is constructed from olive green (OG-107) ripstop cotton poplin, identified by the visible grid-like weave in the fabric. It features the standard configuration of four front bellows pockets with covered button closures, with the two upper pockets set at a distinct slant. The jacket is named to O’Reilly via a sewn-on fabric tape above the right breast pocket. Opposite, above the left breast pocket, is a sewn-on U.S. ARMY branch tape. The left breast features two qualification badges: a Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) and a Senior Parachutist Badge. The right breast pocket is adorned with a large, multi-colored shield-shaped patch for MACV-SOG (Military Assistance Command, Vietnam – Studies and Observations Group), displaying a skull in a green beret with lightning bolts and an anchor. The left shoulder bears the 82nd Airborne Division insignia with an Airborne tab. The right shoulder displays the US Army Special Forces arrowhead patch with an Airborne tab, signifying former wartime service with that unit. Both sleeves feature non-subdued yellow-on-black chevrons for the rank of First Sergeant (1SG). The interior lower back retains the white fabric instruction label titled COAT, MAN’S, COMBAT, TROPICAL which provides eight points of care and use. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
