July Military Auction
Lot 25300:
Description
These custom-made WWII era military riding breeches, or jodhpurs, are crafted from a heavyweight taupe-colored cavalry twill. The garment features a classic mid-20th-century silhouette with flared hips to accommodate movement while mounted, tapering to narrow lower legs. The inner knee and thigh areas are reinforced with light-colored suede patches. The high-waisted design includes an interior cream-colored cotton waistband with buttons for suspenders. The front closure consists of a button fly with brown four-hole composition buttons. The lower legs are secured with a vertical row of five small buttons passing through metal eyelets. The rear includes two welt pockets with button-down flaps. A white fabric label sewn into the interior is handwritten in ink and identifies the original owner as Lt. H.G. Thomas with the serial number 1291, produced by the tailor Gingone Bros.
