Description
A collection of World War I era United States Army field equipment and accessories. The assortment features multiple woven cartridge belts, including a tan M1910 ten-pocket rifle cartridge belt for the M1903 Springfield or M1917 Enfield rifle. This belt utilizes eagle snap buttons on the pocket flaps. The interior is stenciled with a soldier identification mark reading M 16 H. N. C. E. 159 and a manufacturer stamp LONG 6-18 indicating a June 1918 production date. The collection includes earlier Mills pattern belts: a dark blue/black woven belt with a brass buckle plate stamped PAT MILLS & ORNDORFF with patent dates from 1867 to 1894, and a tan woven belt featuring a black-finished Mills logo clasp with patent dates through 1904. Also included is a M1910 first aid set consisting of a tan canvas pouch hand-marked 2ND LT US C. P. STEINKE on the interior lid. The pouch contains a brown-painted metal tin embossed FIRST AID PACKET-US ARMY, CONTRACT NOV 2-1918, BAUER & BLACK. The set includes a M1910 aluminum canteen stamped US AGMC Co 1918 with a wool-lined tan canvas cover stenciled U.S. A brown leather M1907-style rifle sling is present, stamped ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL and inspector initials G. G. H. E. K.
