Description
A United States Army M-1936 field bag, commonly referred to as a musette bag, dated 1941. The bag is constructed from heavy-duty olive drab (OD) #3 canvas, featuring a large main compartment with an interior divider. The exterior includes a button-flap side pocket and a rear document pocket secured by a single metal snap. The front flap is stenciled with a black U.S. mark. The suspension system consists of four adjustable canvas webbing straps with metal snap hooks, designed for attachment to M-1936 combat suspenders. The reverse of the body is stamped with black ink markings identifying the manufacturer and date of production: CRAWFORD-AUSTIN MFG. CO. / WACO, TEXAS / 1941. All buckles, snaps, and hardware are constructed of metal and appear to be original to the piece. The interior of the bag is shown filled with modern foam packing materials for display purposes.
