Description
This is a World War I era United States Marine Corps enlisted ranks dress blue visor cap, identified as the M1917 bell crown pattern. The cap is constructed of dark blue wool with two distinct rows of red welted piping. Centered on the front is a gilded brass screw-back Eagle, Globe, and Anchor insignia. The black leather chin strap is held by two small gilded brass buttons featuring the embossed Marine Corps eagle and anchor design. The visor is black leather with a bound edge and a dark green finished underside. The interior construction utilizes a woven wicker or rattan frame to maintain the high, cylindrical crown shape. The interior is finished with a brown leather sweatband featuring zigzag stitching and a black fabric lining. No manufacturer labels or contract markings are present. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale.
