Description
An assortment of U.S. military headgear and components, including complete service caps, frames, and interchangeable covers dating from the mid-20th century. A primary item is a U.S. Army enlisted man winter service visor cap in olive drab wool with a black leather chinstrap and brass Great Seal cap device. The interior contains a cloth label for Gordon Mfg. Co., Louisville, KY, and a collector tag identifying it as 1942 winter service issue. Also included is a blue-grey wool service cap for the U.S. Army Air Forces or U.S. Air Force with a size 6 7/8 stamp on the leather sweatband. The lot features multiple visor cap frames, including one with gold bullion oak leaf ornamentation on the visor indicating senior officer rank, and another with the Zephyr brand name. A collection of interchangeable covers includes white cotton for summer dress (one with a white soutache quatrefoil), navy blue wool for winter service, khaki cotton with a stamped service number L 1017, and olive drab wool. One black wool garrison cap is also included. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Please carefully look at all photos (up to 100 in some cases on our in-house platform) to judge for yourself what you are buying. All sales are final. Our in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
