Description
This collection comprises a variety of mid-20th-century service items and field gear. Headgear includes a US Army officer tan visor cap with a clear moisture shield labeled Tailored by LEWIS and a leather sweatband embossed THE Fly-Weighter by LEWIS. A police service cap is present, featuring a dark blue fabric construction, a black patent leather chin strap, and a silver-toned badge with an eagle crest, a star containing the number 25, and the word POLICE. A green cotton utility fatigue cap is also included. Insignia and dress accessories consist of three dark blue shoulder boards featuring silver-toned fouled anchor buttons; two boards display double vertical off-white bars and one displays a single bar. A braided gold-tone aiguillette and four neckties in black, olive drab, and tan are part of the lot, with one tan tie marked Manhattan. Field gear includes multiple pairs of silver-toned metal spurs with leather strapping, a thick natural-fiber braided rope lanyard with a brass snap hook and leather-wrapped ends, and various tan canvas webbing straps, one section stamped 6599. A black textured police baton is also included. A 12-inch wooden ruler is visible in the images for scale. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Please carefully look at all photos (up to 100 in some cases on our in-house platform) to judge for yourself what you are buying. All sales are final. Our in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
