Description

This lot features three items of United States military equipment and memorabilia from the Spanish-American War era through the early 20th century.

The first item is a United States Army Model 1903 service holster manufactured at the Rock Island Arsenal. The brown leather holster is designed for a .38 caliber service revolver and features a fold-over flap with a brass closure stud. The back of the holster is clearly stamped with the manufacturer mark ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL, the date 1903, and the ordnance inspector initials H.E.K. The front flap is decorated with three stamped rosettes and hand-scribed with the numerals 247. A leather tie-down cord is attached to a metal ring at the toe.

The second item is a commemorative bronze-finished metal plaque or grave marker for the United Spanish War Veterans (USWV). The cross-shaped piece features a central medallion inscribed UNITED SPANISH WAR VETERANS 1898-1902 around the central text ARMY UNITED NAVY. The arms of the cross represent the primary theaters of the conflict, reading U.S.A., CUBA, PHILIPPINE ISLANDS, and PORTO RICO. The reverse side is cast with the manufacturer mark MFG. BY L.W. PARKER CLYDE OHIO and shows two integral loops for mounting.

The third item is a tan woven canvas cartridge belt, characteristic of the Mills pattern used during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The belt consists of individual woven loops for rifle cartridges, such as .30-40 Krag or .30-06 ammunition. It includes brass C-clip fasteners and adjustment hardware. The interior canvas is stamped with black ink characters reading 119.
