Description
This lot consists of three M1 helmet liners constructed from composite resins and impregnated fabric, dating from the World War II to the Korean War era. Two liners are finished in a non-standard off-white or cream paint, typically utilized for ceremonial duties, color guards, or parade use by veterans organizations. Both of these liners feature a front decal for the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States. One of the white liners displays a distinctive radiating sunburst pattern visible in the interior resin, identifying it as an early World War II low-pressure production model, often attributed to manufacturers like St. Clair or Hood Rubber. The third liner is finished in standard Olive Drab paint and includes a central front ventilation eyelet. The interior suspension systems comprise herringbone twill webbing in shades of khaki (OD 3) and olive drab (OD 7) secured with steel A-washers and rivets. One liner retains a leather nape strap, and one retains a leather sweatband. Interior webbing on one liner bears the printed contract number W-11-009-QM-16142 and the manufacturer code CBL. The Olive Drab liner features a handwritten name in white ink below the front eyelet that appears to read L. MESSIST or L. MESSIER. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
