Description

This is a modern reproduction of a British Army Wolseley pattern Foreign Service Helmet, specifically identified to the 24th Regiment of Foot (South Wales Borderers). The helmet is constructed of a pith or cork core covered in a khaki cotton twill fabric. The exterior features a six-panel crown, a top vent cap, and a multi-fold puggaree consisting of parallel rows of stitching. A darkened metal badge is mounted to the front, featuring the numerals 24 within a circular garter inscribed with the motto HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE. The garter is surrounded by a wreath of laurel and oak leaves and is surmounted by a King’s crown. The interior is lined with green cotton fabric under the brim and crown. It includes a brown leather sweatband and an adjustable brown leather chin strap with a silver-tone buckle. Modern construction elements are visible, including bright metal rivets and washers securing the internal components.
