A United States Marine Corps M1917A1 steel helmet, colloquially known as the Kelly helmet. This transitional model was utilized during the early years of World War II, including the defense of Wake Island and the early stages of the Pacific campaign. The front of the helmet features a bronze-finished screw-back Eagle, Globe, and Anchor (EGA) insignia. The exterior shell is finished in a textured olive drab paint. The underside of the rim is stamped with the heat lot number FKS 20, identifying the shell manufacturer as Felton, Kenyon and Stevens. The interior contains an M1917A1-style liner consisting of a black leather-cloth headband and a green canvas-covered felt skull cap. The helmet includes a two-piece adjustable brown leather chinstrap with brass hardware. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos.
