Description

This is a United States military M1 steel helmet assembly from the Vietnam War era. The assembly consists of a steel shell fitted with a reversible fabric Mitchell pattern camouflage cover, shown with the green leaf side facing out. The cover includes integrated buttonholes for foliage placement and is secured by an elastic olive drab green band. The interior features a removable composite liner with an adjustable olive drab green webbing suspension system. A leather sweatband is attached to the suspension. The helmet is equipped with an olive drab green web chinstrap with black-finished metal hardware. Black ink contract stamps on the interior webbing identify the components as HEADBAND LINER HELMET and LINER, HELMET with the contract number DSA 100-69-C, indicating a 1969 manufacturing contract. Snap fasteners on the suspension system are embossed with RAU FASTENER CO PROVIDENCE R.I. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos.
