Description
This collection includes diverse military field equipment and personal gear issued to United States Army personnel during World War I and World War II. The gas mask assembly is a World War I era Small Box Respirator (SBR) consisting of a canvas facepiece with circular glass eyepieces, a corrugated breathing hose, and a yellow painted metal filter canister. The facepiece is stamped with the numeral 4. Accompanying the mask is a khaki canvas carrying satchel and a small yellow tin labeled Anti Dimming Composition. Mess equipment includes a World War I Model of 1916 bacon or meat can with the model name embossed on the lid. The lot contains several other mess kit pans, including dark finished and bright aluminum divided models. A selection of utensils includes spoons, forks, and knives, including one knife handle stamped U.S. Personal items and rations feature packs of Chesterfield cigarettes, packets of soluble coffee produced by General Foods Corp, and rolls of Waldorf brand toilet paper manufactured by the Scott Paper Co. of Chester, Pennsylvania. Additional items include a tall rectangular galvanized tin embossed with Cut This End Out on the top, a small instruction envelope for repairs, and a khaki canvas field pouch with a button flap and a faded U.S. stamp. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Please carefully look at all photos (up to 100 in some cases on our in-house platform) to judge for yourself what you are buying. All sales are final. Our in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
