Description

A set of United States military Type EE prismatic stereo binoculars with their original specialized carrying case, manufactured by Bausch and Lomb Optical Co. for the U.S. Army Signal Corps during the World War I era. The binoculars are constructed of black-painted brass with a textured brown pebble-grain leatherette covering. The right ocular plate is stamped SIGNAL CORPS / U.S. ARMY. The left ocular plate is stamped Serial No EE 281927. The left objective housing features a circular stamp reading PRISM STEREO 30mm APERT 6 POWER. The binoculars feature individual eyepiece focusing with knurled adjustment rings. The accompanying brown leather carrying case features a built-in liquid-filled compass integrated into the lid. The compass dial is marked BAUSCH & LOMB OPTICAL CO. ROCHESTER N.Y. USA. The case is secured with a brass stud closure and includes leather belt loops on the reverse.
