Description
This group of World War I era United States Army field equipment is constructed primarily from heavy olive drab canvas and webbing. The central component is an M1910 or M1917 pattern dismounted cartridge belt featuring ten ammunition pockets, each secured by a brass snap fastener embossed with the Great Seal of the United States, commonly known as Eagle Snaps. Attached to the belt is an M1918 three-pocket ammunition pouch, also featuring Eagle Snaps, designed to carry half-moon clips for the M1917 revolver. The grouping includes a large vertical canvas specialist pouch with an adjustable web shoulder strap and internal dividers. The underside of the pouch flap bears a handwritten ink inscription identifying the soldier as Sullivan. Additionally, the set includes a pair of wool spiral puttees with integral ties and a pair of canvas leggings featuring metal hooks and eyelets for lace closure. The metal hardware throughout the collection consists of brass and blackened steel components. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
