This collection consists of military insignia, medals, and personal items attributed to Major Raymond D. Walters, United States Marine Corps, service number 060213. The grouping includes a pair of stainless steel dog tags embossed Walters, R. D., 060213, USMC M, Methodist. A brass memorial plaque is engraved Maj. Raymond D. Walters, U.S.M.C., June 6, 1929 – July 13, 1979. Personal effects include a chrome Zippo lighter engraved with the initials RDW and featuring an applied gold-tone major rank insignia, and a gold-tone Ronson Typhoon lighter with a professional engraving on the reverse reading Major R. D. Walters, USMC, S-1, T 79336, Danang, Vietnam, Feb-July 64. A four-row ribbon bar on a Loma Linda Industries, Inc. unitized mount contains ten ribbons: Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with V device, Navy Presidential Unit Citation, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with one bronze star, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with three bronze stars, Navy Unit Commendation, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation, United Nations Service Medal (Korea), and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1960- device. The lot further contains gold-tone oak leaf major rank insignia, two silver-tone USMC Rifle Sharpshooter badges, and black composite uniform buttons featuring the Eagle, Globe, and Anchor motif. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
