Description
A collection of U.S. military insignia, unit patches, and rank identifiers, primarily from the U.S. Army, with one U.S. Air Force patch, dating from the Cold War through the Vietnam War era. The collection includes a variety of subdued (black embroidery on olive drab) and full-color embroidered items.
Unit patches feature the 2nd Armored Division with subdued triangular shoulder sleeve insignia bearing the number 2, a tank track, and a lightning bolt above the text HELL ON WHEELS. The 7th Infantry Division is represented by multiple subdued circular patches featuring the hourglass symbol. A full-color embroidered shield patch for the U.S. Air Force Strategic Air Command (SAC) depicts a mailed fist holding lightning bolts and an olive branch beneath the text STRATEGIC AIR COMMAND.
The collection includes various Ranger and Airborne scrolls and tabs: a full-color 4TH AIRBORNE RANGER CO. scroll in red, white, and yellow; a full-color 4TH AIRBORNE RANGER CO. scroll in black, white, and red; a full-color RANGER AIRBORNE tab in yellow on black; and a subdued AIRBORNE tab.
Rank insignia consist of subdued cloth patches for officers, including Captain (double bars) and Major/Lieutenant Colonel (oak leaf), as well as enlisted ranks including Sergeant First Class, Staff Sergeant, Sergeant, Specialist 4, and Private First Class.
Metal items and awards include one full-size Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) featuring a silver rifle on a blue enamel field surrounded by an oak wreath. Branch insignia includes a pair of gold-toned metal crossed rifles for the Infantry. Other metal items include a gold-toned oak leaf rank pin and a black fabric rosette with a silver-toned center button. Miscellaneous items include a small metal tin containing five black plastic four-hole uniform buttons and small black rubber or plastic loops.
Smallest rank insignia approximately 1 inch by 1 inch.
Larger rank insignia approximately 3 inches by 2 inches.
Airborne and Ranger tabs approximately 4 to 5 inches in width.
Hell on Wheels patches approximately 4 inches in height.
Hourglass patches approximately 2.25 inches in diameter.
Strategic Air Command patch approximately 3 inches by 3.5 inches. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos.
