Description
A collection of United States military shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI) primarily representing units from the World War II and early Cold War eras. The lot contains embroidered patches for various divisions, commands, and specialized units. Identified unit insignia include the 1st Infantry Division (The Big Red One), 4th Armored Division, 10th Mountain Division, 3rd Cavalry Regiment (Brave Rifles), US Army Air Forces (USAAF), First Army, Second Army, Fifth Army, Eighth Army, 24th Infantry Division, 41st Infantry Division, Anti-Aircraft Command, and the 1st Service Command. The patches are constructed of embroidered thread on twill or wool felt backings. Reverse views indicate several examples feature the white “snowy” thread backing characteristic of 1940s-era manufacture.
Sizes range approximately from 2.25 inches to 3 inches in diameter or height. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Please carefully look at all photos (up to 100 in some cases on our in-house platform) to judge for yourself what you are buying. All sales are final. Our in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
