Description
This collection consists of fifteen pieces of US military memorabilia from the World War II era, primarily associated with the US Army Air Forces (USAAF). The lot includes fourteen cloth patches and one uniform cord. The insignia are embroidered on blue twill or felt backings, utilizing construction methods typical of the 1940s, with several patches displaying the white bobbin thread on the reverse known to collectors as snow. The unit patches represented include the 1st, 5th, 9th, 10th, 12th, and 20th Air Forces. Additional command insignia include a rectangular patch for the Mediterranean Allied Air Forces (MAAF), a triangular patch for the Pacific Communications Area, and two curved rockers for Air Transport Command and Training Command. Four variations of the standard USAAF winged star shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI) are also present. The uniform equipment consists of a standard blue and gold braided cord used as a decorative chin strap for an enlisted person’s service cap.

Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
