Description
This collection is organized across three labeled display boards and confirms that these items are buttons of various historical styles. The board labeled Mechanical Make-Up Black Glass features buttons with molded, faceted, and openwork designs, many in floral forms. The board titled Black Glass Imitation Fabric contains buttons with surface textures mimicking woven materials, including several with metallic accents or iridescent moonglow finishes. Handwritten notations on this board refer to early 1800s production and 4-way box shank construction. The third board, Enamel/Luster on Blk Glass, presents round black glass buttons decorated with colorful enameled and luster-painted floral and foliate patterns.
