Description
A collection of antique and vintage buttons organized on thematic display cards. The collection is categorized into themes including Whistles, China Whistles, Drums (ca. 1840-1870), Work Clothes, and Black Glass. Materials include porcelain, faceted Czech glass, brass, horn, mother-of-pearl, wood, celluloid, vegetable ivory, ivory (tooth), and bone. The assortment features utilitarian fasteners with stamped industrial text such as Superior Finest and Our Own Make, alongside decorative Drums style buttons with brass rims and glass or pictorial inserts. Handwritten notations on the cards identify specific materials and makers including Paris BM and Studio: Mary Garmond. The lot includes hand-painted glass examples and various fasteners showing vintage patina consistent with age.
Display cards approximately 9 x 11 inches Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
