Description
An assortment of decorative and functional sewing buttons presented on themed mounting boards in mixed sizes and colors. The collection is primarily composed of various wood species, with many examples featuring secondary materials including lacquer, metal, leather, cork, and mother-of-pearl. Decorative techniques include hand-carving, hand-painting, and modern laser-cutting. Notable motifs include animal and floral designs, folk art scenes, and geometric patterns. One specific button is signed and dated J. Schmidt 1966. Mounting boards include handwritten classifications such as Farm Scene, Jester, Wood with Lacquer, and Wood in Metal. Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
