Description

This collection features an assortment of vintage buttons organized across several display cards, primarily dating from the mid-20th century. The lot includes a card of 1940s-1950s housedress buttons in various plastic and composite designs. A card titled Imitating displays buttons manufactured to resemble materials such as leather, shell, and wood. The collection contains a significant number of kiddie buttons, including novelty animal and character shapes in molded plastic and glass, alongside a circus-themed set. Notable components include a card of J.H.B. Gold Enamels depicting miniature fruits and animals, and an original retail card of La Mode Buttons featuring metal animal motifs. Materials throughout the lot include molded plastic, celluloid, cast metal, and glass, with some examples consistent with West German and Czech glass production. These items are buttons that demonstrate a variety of mid-century decorative styles and manufacturing methods. One set of yellow novelty buttons is mounted on a bingo-style display card.
