Description
This collection of buttons features various ornamental styles including Victorian, Art Nouveau, and heraldic motifs. The items are constructed from mixed metals in gold, silver, and copper tones. Decorative techniques include intricate filigree, colorful enamel detailing, and inset faceted glass stones in amber and orange hues. One notable commemorative button is inscribed with the Latin text FR. JOSEPH I. VIRIBUS UNITIS 1848, referencing Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria. Another button displays a circular arrangement of multiple heraldic shields. One item includes a handwritten note stating the liner is not celluloid. The buttons are presented on a dark display card.
Individual buttons range approximately from 0.75 inches to 1.5 inches in diameter. Pick up is Friday, March 13 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
