Description
This collection of buttons features an assortment of materials and decorative styles. The group includes examples crafted from brass, copper, silver-toned metal, mother-of-pearl, inset glass, and enamel. Decorative motifs include intricate geometric patterns, floral and foliate scrolls, and a miniature portrait picture button. The items are presented on a display card labeled PARIS BACK ALL MAT’LS (SEE ALSO FRENCH TIGHTS). Handwritten ink notations on the card identify specific types such as FRENCH TIGHT and WALLPAPER, as well as technical descriptions regarding shanks and backings. The construction methods include stamped metal, molded glass, and inlaid materials, with some examples showing Art Nouveau style influences.
