Description

World War Two U.S. Navy identified VT-2 squadron patch. The patch is painted on leather. Measures 4.875″ in diameter. Originally established as Torpedo Squadron One S (VT-1S) in 1926. Redesignated as Torpedo Squadron 2 (VT-2) on June 1, 1937. Disestablished November 6,1942. Reestablished as VT-2 (2nd VT-2) on June 1, 1943. The insignia was approved by the Office of Chief of Naval Operations – CNO on November 11, 1943.. VT-16 was deployed on the (CV-12)USS Hornet and flew the Grumman TBM Avenger. Participated in the Battle of the Philippine sea and carried out strikes against Japanese installations in the Marianas, Palua, Truk, and the Philippines.   Pick up is Sunday, March 29 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
