Description
World War Two U.S. Navy identified VT-10 squadron patch. The patch is paint on leather. Measures 4.5″ x 4″. Identified to “Ens. Tony Peyou USNR” in gold lettering. Established as Torpedo Squadron Ten (VT-10) on April 16,1942.. The insignia was approved by the Office of Chief of Naval Operations – CNO on April 22,, 1943. Nicknamed the “Buzzard Brigade” VT-10 was deployed on the (CV-6) USS Enterprise (flew the Grumman TBF-1/1C Avenger) and the USS Intrepid (flew the Grumman TBM-3E Avenger).. Participated in the Solomon Islands Campaign – Guadalcanal, the first successful organized night torpedo attack against Japanese shipping at Truk Lagoon, and Okinawa. Pick up is Sunday, March 29 from 10 am to 4 pm at our gallery in Lancaster, Ohio 43130 or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
