This lot comprises a collection of books and magazines primarily focused on American history, military history, the American West, and the life of film icon John Wayne. The hardcover volumes, several of which retain their original dust jackets, include works such as Eagles and Empire by David A. Clary (Bantam Books), The Man Who Ate His Boots by Anthony Brandt (Knopf), West Like Lightning by Jim DeFelice (William Morrow), Nothing Like It in the World by Stephen E. Ambrose (Simon & Schuster), West of the Revolution by Claudio Saunt (W.W. Norton & Co.), The Victory With No Name by Colin G. Calloway (Oxford University Press), and This Is Guadalcanal by R.P. Mason, L. Douglas Keeney, and William S. Butler (Lyons Press). Also included are two separate illustrated histories of The Alamo by George Nelson (Aldine Press) and Edwin P. Hoyt (Taylor), the quarto-sized Gunfighters by Al Cimino (Chartwell Books), Calamity Jane by Christian Perrissin and Matthieu Blanchin (IDW Publishing), and John Prine: Beyond Words. Softcover titles include 1776 by David McCullough (Simon & Schuster), William Wallace by Andrew Fisher (Birlinn), and The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance by Dorothy M. Johnson. The periodical portion of the lot features multiple volumes of John Wayne: The Official Collector’s Edition by Topix Media Specials, including volumes 1, 14, 15, 16, 17, 21, 26, 29, 31, 34, 35, 38, and 44, along with the specialty issue John Wayne’s All-Time Best Meat Recipes. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Please carefully look at all photos (up to 100 in some cases on our in-house platform) to judge for yourself what you are buying. All sales are final. Our in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
