Description
This is a United States Marine Corps M-65 field jacket, a standard issue pattern associated with the Vietnam War era. The garment is constructed from olive drab OG-107 cotton and nylon sateen. It features four large front cargo pockets with snap-down flaps, a heavy-duty metal front zipper with a snap-down storm flap, and a stand-up collar with a zippered compartment for a concealed hood. The jacket includes a bi-swing action back and velcro adjustable cuffs. On the left breast pocket, there is a black ink stencil of the Marine Corps Eagle, Globe, and Anchor emblem and the letters USMC. To the left of the pocket, the name R.P. MASON is stenciled vertically. An enamel pin is attached to the left pocket flap, identifying the veteran as a participant in the Combined Action Program. This shield-shaped blue pin displays a black eagle over crossed US and Republic of Vietnam flags, with text reading PROGRAM, COMBINED ACTION, and the Vietnamese translation Luc luong Hon hop. The interior contains the original waist drawstring. No contract labels are visible to confirm the manufacturer or exact date.
