Description
This lot consists of a trio of vintage United States military tropical combat coats, commonly referred to as jungle jackets, in the Engineer Research and Development Laboratories (ERDL) green-dominant (lime) camouflage pattern. Each garment is constructed from 100% cotton wind-resistant rip-stop poplin. The design is characterized by four front slanted bellows pockets with button-down flaps, a covered button front closure, and adjustable button cuffs.
The first coat is size Medium-Regular, designed for a chest size of 37 to 41 inches and a height of 67 to 71 inches. Internal labels identify it as Coat, Mans, Camouflage Cotton W/R Poplin Rip Stop Class 2 with contract number DSA 100-69-C-1662, dating to 1969, manufactured by Richard Wynn Enterprises, Inc.
The second coat is size Small-Regular, designed for a chest size of 33 to 37 inches and a height of 67 to 71 inches. It features a visible black USMC stencil on the left chest pocket. Internal labels identify it as Coat, Mans Camouflage Cotton Wind Resistant Rip-Stop Poplin Class 2 with contract number DSA 100-70-C-0474, dating to 1970, manufactured by Burgess Mfg. Inc.
The third coat is also size Small-Regular with the same contract information as the second: DSA 100-70-C-0474, manufactured by Burgess Mfg. Inc. in 1970. All three examples retain their original internal sizing and instruction labels. We do our best to describe all items in the sale, and we definitely take a ton of photos. But, we are not able to guarantee authenticity or era of items in the sale. Please carefully look at all photos (up to 100 in some cases on our in-house platform) to judge for yourself what you are buying. All sales are final. Our in-house shipping is available. Pickup is Wednesday, July 15, from Noon to 5 pm at our facility in Lancaster, OH. Alternate pickup day is available by appointment for a $5 fee per lot or we will provide in-house shipping for this item.
